Veggie Dips!

I have been loving all of the fruit and veggie options at the store lately! My kids have, too, of course although their love is really more for the fruit.

Veggies can be tough to get kids to really enjoy. I mean it's hard enough for me to always enjoy them myself! It's taken me a lot of years to get myself eating veggies with most meals during the day, and I think we all can relate.

One of the best ways to trick myself to eat fresh veggies is to eat them with a dip! Then the veggie becomes more of that vehicle to get the dip into my belly, ha!

Store-bought dips are usually filled with bad oils, sugar, or additives that aren't going to support a strong, healthy body. Making your own is really quite simple, here are a few of my favorite dips.

Ranch Veggie Dip

Ingredients

1/2 cup mayo (homemade or avocado oil based)

1/2 cup sour cream

1/4 tsp mustard

2 tsp lemon juice

1 tsp dried dill

2 tsp dried parsley

1 tsp salt

1/8 tsp pepper

1/4 tsp garlic powder

Directions

Mix all ingredients together in a bowl and enjoy with fresh cut veggies of your choice.

Guacamole Dip

Ingredients

1 avocado

1 tsp lime juice

1 Tbsp minced fresh cilantro

2 Tbsp minced red onion

1/4 of a jalapeno, seeds and ribs removed, minced

1/8 tsp salt

Directions

Mix all ingredients together in a mixing bowl, mashing the avocado to combine well.

Homemade Hummus

Ingredients

1 can garbonzo beans, skins removed

1 tsp minced garlic

2 Tbsp olive or avocado oil

1/8 tsp cumin

1/4-1/2 tsp salt

1 tsp vinegar (or up to 2 tsp lemon juice)

1/4 cup water

Directions

Add all ingredients except for the water to a food processor or high speed blender.

Slowly add in a little water at a time until the desired texture and smoothness is reached. Enjoy with your favorite veggies!
