Protein Chocolate Peanut Butter "Nice Cream"

Today in Minnesota it reached 60 degrees - and it's March! That's pretty unheard of, and it's got me excited for summer already!

I've started making a list with my kids of all the things we want to do this summer...

Go to the zoo

Beach days

Playgrounds

Picnics

Water gun fights

Draw with chalk

Run through sprinklers

Ride bikes

Eat ice cream

I can't wait!

I love watching my kids experience life and I love showing them new experiences along the way. Part of enjoying life is to enjoy food, and I'm all about helping my kids create a healthy relationship with food. They understand already that it's good to eat protein because it makes them feel full and helps them build strong muscles. They know that fruits and veggies keep them healthy and make them run fast to give them energy. And they know that they can't eat a ton of sugar otherwise they won't feel so good and they might get sick. We don't restrict any foods for our kids, but we show them the foods that make them feel their best.

Part of that process is finding healthier alternatives to fun foods. We make healthier cookies, muffins, popsicles, cakes and even ice cream. This ice cream isn't just for the kids, though! It has protein, fat and carbs which would make it a filling treat you don't have to feel guilty about.

If you don't have a high powered blender, I truly suggest this Ninja blender. It's the one I have and love the power it packs and the sharp blades that can cut through anything. This whole system, in my opinion, is the perfect setup.

Protein Chocolate Peanut Butter "Nice Cream"

Ingredients

4 frozen bananas

Directions

1) Blend all ingredients together in a high powered blender. (If using a food processor you should add 1/2 cup of milk to the mixture). At this point you are free to enjoy - OR you can pour the ice cream into a container and freeze for 1-2 hours.
